Batteries and Charger

Styles4321 - Tue, 24/04/2018 - 00:01 - AceBeam K70 1.3km 2600 lumen LED search light

Can you please list the batteries that work with this and a charger that works with those batteries ?

The warning makes it very confusing -

“or protected 18650 cells which PCB including 3 MOSFETs. Add kit below for suitable batteries.”

What does that mean ? Is the which meant to be a with ?

“ or protected 18650 cells with PCB including 3 MOSFETs. Add kit below for suitable batteries.”

If so what is a PCB including MOSFETs ?

Some help would be great.

Acebeam K65

trishandmike - Thu, 12/04/2018 - 19:55 - Acebeam K65 6200 lumen 1014m de-domed XHP70.2 LED Torch

A worthy successor to the K60. A touch shorter lengthwise, but similar in other dimentions. That dedomed XHP70 looks a beast at the base of the deep reflector. However, the complete yellow segment does not light up. There is a border of approximately 1mm right around the active section. It appears as this area reflects some yellow tinted light foward, which manifests itself as a yellow corona around the hotspot. Its more apparent on the lower outputs, and is obvious if operating beside a light with a cool output. Its not actually a criticism of this light, just pointing out of a characteristic of it. The ui is quite intuitive and has a smooth ramping between levels. My sample actually measured quite close to the factory specified 258kcd output, within 20kcd.. It had a slightly tighter hotspot thsn the K60, and excellent spill to go with it. Fit and finish are all of a quite high standard, and the reflector appears to be dust and spec free. Acebeam are really lifting their game!
A nice big SAR light.

Thrunite Ti4

stokoejm - Thu, 15/03/2018 - 22:13 - ThruNite Ti4 252 lumen 2 x AAA LED penlight

Smooth barrel slips easily into shirt upper arm pen pocket (unlike my Coast G20).
Firefly mode dim enough to not disturb sleepers (wife & children) when moving around house at night, but still bright enough to easily navigate. Always starts in firefly so that also helps not to disturb (can't use my Klarus XT2C for this stuff). Easy to increase brightness for all quiet house tasks when needed. Love this light, not EDC, but every night with kids carry.

Really like this AA battery torch. The diffuser is great to turn this into a camping lantern.

Fantastic torch

This is an amazingly bright torch, but still very practical size. People are amazed at the light it throws - my friend just purchased a similar powered torch off this site he was so impressed. Great service and support.

Good for what it is

travisfranklin3030 - Sat, 16/12/2017 - 15:30 - Xtar VC4 LCD USB powered Li-ion/Ni-MH battery charger 4 channel

Quick and dirty review

Only the outer two slots can charge at the full rate. If you use either of the middle two the charge rate is cut by half for all four slots. This doesn't excite me. I'm thinking it's because it's USB powered.

I love that it can pretty much charge any battery type. That being said there's a downside to that versatility, batteries are easily dislodged in the slots.

Overall though it is what it is & it will do what I want. That is, it will allow me to charge my AA & 18650 via USB power bank or through the car USB. I'm talking about when the power goes out I can still recharge batteries for my devices. In that it's excellent. Day to day charging however I'm using dedicated AA/AAA & 18650 chargers for those batteries.

Overall - I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. If I could only have one charger it'd be this one for the versatility, but hey? Why have one charger? That's like asking me to only have one torch :-)

Acebeam X80

jhn.holgate - Sat, 16/12/2017 - 10:03 - AceBeam X80 25000 lumen multi-colour LED floodlight torch

Completely Bonkers! The amount of light that this thing can put out is nuts. Beautifully wide flood light - you can see everything. Seems Acebeam have put a new user interface on the X80. Press for a second to enter moonlight - from then on, you can cycle through low/med/high as per normal without having to go past the RGB/UV. (normal memory mode applies) Hold for 2 seconds (past moonlight) to enter RBG/UV mode. Hold for 3 seconds to get to red sos/police red/blue strobe. Works well and isn't too complex. Having the 1/4 tripod mount means you can make up all sorts of brackets and hooks to hang it anywhere or use it for photography. A very versatile and useful light. I can't imagine using the turbo max output for anything other than 'watch this' moments as the X80 builds heat fast at max output. Can't fault the quality - it seems as well made as several other well known brands I have. Awesome light. What on earth will they be building in another 5 years I wonder...

Thrunite TN12

Liamprice1996 - Mon, 04/12/2017 - 22:42 - Thrunite TN12 1050 lumen compact LED torch 2016

Amazing torch, cannot get past the excellent visibility, top notch build quality and versatile size. Extremely speedy delivery, Purchased on the Friday, delivered on the next Business day, can't beat that level of service.

Compact and cool

cacher - Mon, 20/11/2017 - 16:50 - Nitecore LA10 135 lumen 1 X AA LED camping light

I bought this for in the tent, or under the tarp, when out camping. Functionally, it's typical Nitecore ie built well, feels solid.

Simple to use, just turn the light on and off in under 2 seconds to change brightness. I thing the Beacon mode is pretty useless, but it doesn't cost extra, so what the hell.

It feels like the turning mechanism is goings to last a good while. It's not plasticy or weak feeling. Time will tell.

Brightness is great, with a decent run time for a one AA torch.

Glad I bought it, I may buy one for the car in the future. The magnet in the base seems like it'd come in very handy to attach it under the bonnet for hands free operation.

I'd like to see a solid wire hanger of some sort. The lanyard is functional, but it swings around with the breeze.

All in all though, I can see this coming on every trip.

Good, but not perfect

cacher - Mon, 20/11/2017 - 16:40 - Nitecore HA20 die-cast 2 X AA CREE XP-G2 LED headlamp

I bought this to replace my HC90 (900 lumen) headlight. TBH, 900 lumens in a headlight is pretty useless, and this is around half the weight.

Initial impressions are that it's solid, it holds in place well, but turns easily, fits well on my head.

Battery installation is tricky. The AAs need to be installed perfectly or the little door won't close. Don't force it, it's plastic. I am sure it will get easier with practice. The strap is functional, but if you like to remove the top strap, you would have to cut it off, so make sure you really want it gone.

Speaking of batteries, when you install the AAs in the HA20, do NOT look at the red led's. They do that god awful battery level indication thing, and it will blind you if you're not careful.

Price is excellent. Especially considering the body is aluminium, and it's 300 lumens. If you want a comparison, check out prices on the LED Lenser SEO7R, which run ~ $160 and up for a plastic light.

All in all, I am happy I bought this headlight and I think it will be a good replacement for my heavy old HC90.

Good all-round every day carrier

jrplane - Wed, 08/11/2017 - 01:37 - Klarus RS20 1050 lumen rechargeable multi-purpose LED torch and lantern

Had the flashlight for about a month now, so far have used it at work on night shift and walking the dog, first impressions is it is a great little torch with a number of different lighting options, great value for money and it feels and looks good quality, i think ill get a lot of life out of it,

The torch is good value for money, plenty of throw and intensity for 99% of applications, usb charging is mint and that side lantern is handy (there are 2 white light settings super bright and really bright - the only thing that i think would suit this flashlight better is having the second white light setting a lot softer for close quarter stuff)

Otherwise a mint little flashlight, the team at liteshop are awesome, just ordered a few things and they arrived a few days later - easy :-) Thanks guys

Acebeam L16

crossm - Thu, 14/09/2017 - 20:40 - AceBeam L16 XHP35 HI 2000 lumen 603m rechargeable LED torch

Super bright pocket thrower.

Light and compact enough to be very handy, ridiculously bright, seems robust enough to use regularly. The build quality is excellent. The user interface is great. Anodizing couldn't be faulted. But for me it isn't perfect.

I dislike the micro USB charging port but love that it is rechargeable. That would be the only thing I would change if I were able to; the method of recharging. The micro USB plug gives me the irrits and doesn't instil confidence in its ability to maintain waterproofing. It is a bit fiddly and I've popped the plug open unintentionally a few times. But to be fair it could just be my handling method.

But guys, this is a genuinely over delivering torch. I have a range of brands for other torches from cheapy Led Lenser, to more Acebeam's to Sunwayman and Fenix. This torch is on par with the better brands in terms of quality of manufacturing and its output is outstanding.

If you're not sure about spending the dough then go back to looking at even more reviews on YouTube and second guessing yourself. Or just buy this thing and be amazed by it like I am. In my opinion it is worth every cent.
